Ultimate returns to rock Brazil this Wednesday (09). On a traditional night for football games in the country, the largest MMA organization in the world promises to rock the city of Barueri, in the interior of São Paulo, with a card full of local athletes. In the main fight of UFC Fight Night 29, the Brazilian Demian Maia tries to win against the North American Jake Shields to guarantee himself as the next challenger for the welterweight belt.
The fight
Demian and Shields arrive in Barueri with the same objective: to win the fight and have the chance to fight for the belt. UFC president, Dana White, has already declared that the winner in Barueri will be in a good position in the category. With this, the Brazilian highlights the importance of his training to achieve victory.
“My whole camp has changed and I think that is the main reason for the good phase: the way of training and professionalism”, said Demian, who is coming off triumphs against Dong Hyun Kim, Rick Story and Jon Fitch.
In turn, Shields, who is a former Strikeforce champion, is trying to get back the chance to fight for the welterweight belt. In April 2011, at UFC 129, the American was defeated by GSP in a unanimous decision by the judges.
“My goal is to fight for the title again. And I know that a victory could bring me closer to achieving my goal,” said Shields.

In addition to the dispute between Demian and Shields, the UFC fight program in Barueri features other interesting duels.
