Athlete accused of cartel fraud suffers first-round knockout in debut at UFC Las Vegas 56

Collector of controversies in his career in MMA, Askar Mozharov debuted with a tough defeat in the UFC Las Vegas 56, held this Saturday (4). Accused of tampering with the cartel during the week, the Ukrainian was unable to overcome Alonzo Menifield and ended up defeated with a knockout in the first round. The athlete entered the octagon under suspicion from spectators and the specialized press.

A representative of the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg), Mozharov had few chances to show whether he would be competent to join the Ultimate squad. In the opening seconds, the Ukrainian was taken to the ground and controlled by his opponent.

Still in the first round, Askar got to his feet and took the risk of a frank confrontation. Menifield, however, controlled his emotions and, once again, took down his rival.

On top, Alonzo bet on ground and pound. The athlete managed to neutralize his opponent and, with a sequence of clean elbows to the Ukrainian's face, forced the referee to stop the fight.

After the fight was stopped, the atmosphere was tense in the octagon. A UFC security guard even went up to the stage with the intention of preventing any confusion, and Menifield's team did not hide their disgust at the controversies surrounding Mozharov.

Still in the octagon, Alonzo did not hide his irritation with the confusion involving his opponent.
