Charles of the Bronx revealed that he would fly to Houston in advance to try to get rid of a 'bad luck' at UFC 166, but the fighter from São Paulo ended up having no luck. In the last training session before the trip, he suffered a muscle strain in his thigh and is out of the fight against Jeremy Larsen.

According to Ericson Cardozo, Charles' coach, the injury happened on Wednesday, but the expectation was that the São Paulo native would be able to perform on the 16th. However, the tests carried out showed that the Brazilian would not be able to fight.
