Former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) of Ultimate, Dustin poirier once again admitted his admiration for Nick Diaz. The 'Diamante', however, regretted the last performance of the 'bad boy', at the UFC 266 and admitted frustration, understanding that the veteran would be out of ideal conditions to fight at a high level. On that occasion, the favorite of the North American fans ended up being knocked out by Robbie Lawler.

“It's unfortunate, because I'm a big fan (of Nick). Watching legends not being themselves the way they were, I hate to see, but that's what fighting is all about,” said Poirier, in an interview with 'THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas'.

In Dustin's view, Diaz should not have chosen to resume his career. In the fight against Lawler, the veteran ended a hiatus of more than five years in mixed martial arts.

“They don’t know when to stop, they can’t and they don’t want to. They are fighters. I believe they fought for so long and it ends up not being something they do anymore. It's who they are. I feel it in me a little bit,” she closed.

Even defeated by Robbie, Nick, 38 years old, is not thinking about retiring. Without winning a fight since 2011, the athlete recently asked for an immediate title fight against the welterweight champion (under 77kg.) Kamaru Usman.
