Without fighting since November last year, Brazilian Vinícius Spartan returns to the Bellator cage this Friday night (04). In edition number 102 of the show, he faces veteran Lavar Johnson, ex-UFC and Strikeforce, recognized for his great knockout power. Despite this, the Team Nogueira athlete is confident that he will reach the final and win the tournament's unprecedented title.

“I'm very confident for this fight, I know my opponent is very dangerous, but I believe in my abilities. Lavar Johnson is a knockout artist and has a very heavy hand, but I'm more complete in the game. I entered this GP to win, that is my goal and I will achieve it”, says Spartan.

To overcome the North American's striking, the Brazilian heavyweight counted on the help of kickboxing specialist Anderson “Braddock”, who is in Rio de Janeiro preparing for the semi-final of Glory 11, which will be held on the 22nd, at Japan.

“My training camp was great, I tried to improve my standup game even more, because I believe it will be important for this fight. I trained a lot with Anderson Braddock, and I'm calm, because hardly anyone will give me more difficulty standing than him (laughs)”.

PUBLICITY:

At 30 years old, Vinícius “Spartan” has a record of six wins and three losses. The Brazilian's last fight was at Bellator 80, in November 2012, when he ended up defeated by the Russian Alexander Volkov. His return to the cage should have taken place in June, however, a knee injury took him out of Bellator 96, on the eve of the event.
