Even with the presence of Anderson Silva, Chris Weidman and Dana White, 11-year-old Felipe Adorno ended up becoming the big star of the UFC 168 press conference, held in São Paulo (SP) this Monday (30). Felipe, who is currently being treated for a meningeal tumor, was presented with a replica of the Ultimate belt and said that he still has difficulty believing everything that happened.
“I still can’t believe it! It was really cool”, said Felipe, still euphoric after meeting his great idol Anderson Silva, in an exclusive interview with Super Fights. Her mother, Dina Adorno, revealed the difficulties she faced in getting to the event location. “We got lost several times until we got here. We walked almost 150 km. I just wanted to see his eyes shining, but I'm sure he'll never forget what happened,” she said, as excited as the boy himself.
Aware that he now has something in his hands that is a dream for MMA fans and that several fighters have not even come close to achieving, Felipe has no doubts about the first person he wants to show the belt to. “My older brother,” he said, citing the main partner with whom he shares his interest in mixed martial arts.
Upon leaving the luxurious hotel in the west of São Paulo where the UFC 168 promotional press conference was held, under a light rain, Dina Adorno said that she would go with her son straight to a chemotherapy session, scheduled a few kilometers away. This is the second time the boy has undergone cancer treatment, the first was when he was just six years old. In the fight for his life, even without a belt, little Felipe is certainly already a champion.
