It's official! UFC announces Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez as main event fight in July

Fighters will face each other in Long Island on July 16th, in a fight scheduled for five rounds

Two featherweight standouts (up to 65,7kg) are scheduled to clash soon. The UFC, on its social networks, announced the fight between Brian ortega e Yair Rodriguez for July 16th, in a duel that could bring the winner closer to a title fight.

The last title challenger, Brian returns to the Octagon after his defeat to Alexander Volkanovsky No. UFC 266. On that occasion, the North American gave the Australian a real battle, but was unable to overcome the technical quality of the current champion.

Famous for his versatility, Rodriguez will also make his season debut. The fighter was the last to share the octagon against the former category leader, Max Holloway. Against the Hawaiian, the Mexican brought balance, but ended up being defeated by the judges' unanimous decision after five rounds.

Ortega currently has a record of 15 positive results and two negative results. Rodriguez now has 17 appearances as a professional, with 13 triumphs, three setbacks and one 'no result' fight.

The duel takes place on Long Island for the second time in Ultimate history. The only edition took place in 2017, with Chris Weidman overcoming Kevin Gastelum via submission in the third round. This time, the event will be held at the UBS Arena.
