Defending the heavyweight title, Bruno Cappelozza debuted this season with a first-round knockout victory over Stuart Austin in April. Matheus Buffa started in the organization, being knocked out by the current runner-up Before Delija, at the same event.
Leading the heavyweight classification in the current season after knocking out Jamelle Jones in just 25 seconds, Renan Problem is also a confirmed presence in PFL 5. The Team Nogueira athlete faces his compatriot Klidson Abreu, who debuted with a victory over Adam Keresh in the judges' decision.
Another Brazilian confirmed on the card is Sheymon Moraes, who faces former champion Lance Palmer. Sheymon leads the featherweight classification (up to 65,7 kg) after debuting with a victory over Boston Salmon, while Lance Palmer opened the year with a defeat to Chris Wade.
On a card full of heavyweights and featherweights, the only exception is the co-main fight, which features a duel in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). Current leader of the competition, Anthony Pettis seeks his second victory in a row and faces the Scottish Steven Ray, who lost in his debut.
