Not even winning the middleweight title or even breaking the record for consecutive title defenses, the greatest moment of Anderson Silva in Ultimate it was the rematch against former champion Rich Franklin at UFC 77, at least in Spider's own opinion. During a press conference in São Paulo (SP), this Monday (30), Anderson surprised and placed the second fight against Franklin above any other achievement he has achieved in the main MMA organization on the planet.
“Look, my biggest moment in the UFC was my rematch against Rich Franklin,” said Spider. “It's funny that I'm saying this, because I'm living this moment again. Only on the other side. And I'm wondering what Rich Franklin lived through. And it's complicated, it's not easy. But this was my biggest moment in the UFC”, he concluded.
In October 2007, Anderson Silva beat Rich Franklin for the second time, about a year after beating Franklin himself and winning the middleweight belt. The fight took place at the opponent's home: the city of Cincinatti, in the US state of Ohio. On that occasion, the triumph came via technical knockout in the second round.
On December 28th, Anderson Silva will be involved in yet another rematch, this time one of the most anticipated in the history of Ultimate, against Chris Weidman. The clash is the main fight of UFC 168, which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas (USA). In the night's co-main event, the TUF 18 coaches Ronda Rousey e Miesha Tate face each other for the women's bantamweight belt.
