Fighter Leandro Feijão passed away last Thursday (26), victim of a stroke, shortly after undergoing the dehydration process for the Shooto Brasil 43 weigh-in. Visiting Brazil to promote UFC 168, Ultimate president Dana White did not escaped being questioned about the case. For him, MMA does not leave with its image damaged by this fact.

According to White, athletes must measure the consequences of accepting a fight at such short notice. For the manager, although Feijão's death is a sad fact, it is 'part of the sport'.

“He accepted the fight at very short notice. When you do this you need to think about whether or not it's worth losing all the weight. When you see someone dying so young it's very sad, but it's part of the sport. If you analyze how many fights happen in the world and how many die, I think you just need to think about whether or not you should accept a fight at the last minute”, said the director.
