In recent years, the UFC has systematically bought rival organizations, closed their activities and taken over contracts with their fighters. It was like that with PRIDE, the World Fighting Alliance (WFA), the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and, more recently, Strikeforce. However, for president Dana White, this type of maneuver would never happen with Bellator, Ultimate's main competitor today.

“There’s nothing there (in Bellator). If you look at any other company that we ended up buying in the past, there was value. That organization has no value”, said the director during a conversation with the press, after a promotional question and answer session for UFC 168, last Sunday (29), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).

White justified his point of view. “Look at PRIDE, look at all the contracts we have from PRIDE, all the guys that came. Look at the Pride squad. An incredible cast, with some of the most talented fighters of all time. When we bought (the WFA), I bought it because Rampage I had a contract with them. When we bought Strikeforce, we bought it for its roster. Just for the fights of Nick Diaz It was already worth buying this organization”, he concluded.
