The victory of Ketlen Scallop about Holly holm in the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 55, last Saturday (21), was not very well accepted by the North American, nor by her team. After the former champion said she was “very angry” with the judges’ decision, it was the turn of the traditional Jackson-Wink MMA academy to take a stance on the issue.

Last Monday (23), the official profile of Jackson-Wink MMA, the gym where he trains Holly holm, published an official statement demanding that MMA judges be held responsible for their mistakes and stating that “the legitimacy of the sport is at risk”.

“Judges need to be held accountable for the mistakes they make, just as everyone else is held accountable, penalized and punished for doing wrong things. Judges are not above everyone else. Why are their decisions so untouchable and never reversible? If this is not corrected, the legitimacy of the sport is at risk! Note: what's the point of counting strikes if they don't mean anything and the judges don't even look at the statistics? What are they based on?” says the statement.

At 40, Holly holm walked away from a new chance to compete for the bantamweight belt with the defeat to Ketlen Scallop. The North American fell to third place in the division's ranking, being overtaken by the Brazilian, who took second place and practically guaranteed a chance to fight for the title.
