Fighter dies after weighing in at Shooto Brasil 43

Leandro Feijão, 26 years old, was scheduled to fight this Friday

leandro-feijaoNational MMA is in mourning! Fighter Leandro Feijão, who was scheduled to be a fighter at Shooto Brasil 43, passed away this Thursday (26), at the age of 26, shortly after passing the official weigh-in for the event.

After going through the scale challenge, Feijão felt bad and was taken to the hospital, but he couldn't resist and died at the Botafogo UPA, in the RIo de Janeiro region. There is still no information as to whether the wear and tear caused by the weight cut was a factor in the fighter's death.

“I would like to announce the death of our athlete Leandro Feijão, who was due to fight tomorrow at Shooto. Feijão felt sick before the weigh-in for the event, he passed out and was taken to the hospital, I still don’t know what led to Leandro’s death”, wrote André Chatuba, Leandro’s friend, on his Facebook page.

Dedé Pederneiras, leader of the Nova União team and organizer of Shooto, also used social media to mourn the athlete's death. “It is with great regret that we hereby announce the death of the athlete Leandro Caetano de Souza, the athlete died at the UPA of Botafogo, the reasons are not yet known to us, we would like to express our condolences to all his friends and family,” he said.
