At 42 years old, the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) revealed that he wants to retire in 2022 and indicated the city of New York (USA) as the ideal place for his farewell to the octagons. “The perfect plan would be for me to win this fight (against Jiri Prochazka), which I have full focus on, and to do one last contest which would be in November, in New York, which is close to the city where I have lived for 20 years, it is close to my gym. It would be my farewell to the fight. I'm thinking that at the moment. I'll be 43 years old in November, regardless of whether I'm up there, being the best in the world or not, I want to stop this year. It will probably be my last year,” Glover said.

The light heavyweight champion said that he has been thinking about his retirement for some time and that, once he officially announces it, he will not go back on his decision.

“I don't want to make this decision after a fight, but it's what I've been thinking about for a while. I don't want to retire like (Henry) Cejudo, who always wants a fight. When I retire I want to be at peace. I believe it would be a perfect plan. The perfect plan would be for me to retire with the belt this year, but for that we have a lot to do, we have to see if it can be in New York, and I still have to beat a really tough guy. That’s my vision”, concluded the champion.
