Just over four months after leaving the American Top Team academy to found his own team, the Brazilian Amanda nunes told details of the reasons that made her leave the team she had been part of since 2014. “I was uncomfortable with the whole situation, of course. There were no girls when I arrived at American Top Team. I was the first woman to bring two belts and put the women's team in history. When Kayla (Harrison) got there and then (Yana) Kunitskaya, she started to create a strange situation for me, because that was my territory. Other bantamweights were arriving. Kunitskaya, who was already at the top and could have been a future opponent with a victory over Ketlen (Vieira). She arrived well, when she was close to becoming the next opponent. She showed up at the gym and I was shocked when I walked in. I was like, 'No, it's not possible.' It was already creating this situation”, said Amanda.

For the 'Lioness', the situation got even worse when Kayla harrison, lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) arrived at the gym and, despite sharing training with her, began to publicly tease her showing interest in a possible fight.

“And then Kayla arrived and started talking. I was like, 'Man, I'm not even safe on my own turf.' I was a bit trapped, especially because we shared the same coaches. She trains with Mike Brown and I trained with Mike Brown. I was already training with him when she got there”, said the 'Leoa'.

For Nunes, as Kayla was interested in facing her in the future, the American should look for another place to train and not 'invade her territory'.

“If there's anyone who carries the team's name, it's me, who brought two belts (to ATT). If I weren't who I really am, two-division champion, cool, no problems. But I was already the champion. She would have to train somewhere else to fight me”, concluded the Brazilian.

Dethroned by Julianna Pena As queen of the bantamweight division, Amanda continues preparing for the long-awaited rematch against the 'Venezuelan Shrew'. While the UFC has not yet made the date of the second clash official, the two athletes are taking part in the recordings of the thirtieth edition of the reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter', where both are team coaches.
