Back on the UFC strawweight (up to 52,1kg) throne seven years after losing the title to Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Carla esparza has a new reason to celebrate. About a week after getting over Rose namajunas and regain her old belt, the athlete fulfilled another dream and married Matt Lomeli. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the moment when the champion, dressed as a bride, posed for photos wearing the belt.

An MMA veteran, Esparza was one of the highlights of the UFC 274. Although she didn't give a brilliant performance, the fighter did enough to convince two of the three side judges, beating Rose in a split decision.
At 34 years old, Carla returns to the top of the strawweight division almost eight years after her first victory. In 2014, the North American became the first champion in the history of the division, surpassing, at the time, the same Namajunas.
The week of her rematch with Rose, Esparza had joked about the situation surrounding her marriage. The athlete confirmed her desire not to suffer major damage to her face, as she would get married the week following her clash in the UFC 274.
Back on the strawweight throne, Carla still doesn't know when and who will be responsible for her first title defense.
