Lyoto Machida does poorly, is knocked out by Fabian Edwards and suffers his fourth consecutive defeat in Bellator

Couldn't Lyoto Machida. In the second most important fight of Bellator 281, an event that took place this Friday (13), the Brazilian was surprised and ended up knocked out by Fabian Edwards still in the first round. The Brazilian now suffers the fourth consecutive defeat in his career.

Hired by Bellator after leaving Ultimate, Machida won his first two fights, but was defeated the last four times he stepped into the circular cage. The 'Dragon' has a record of 26 triumphs and 12 setbacks in his career. He had his last fight under his contract with the organization.

Edwards alleviates his situation and returns to triumph in Scott Coker's company. The Brit is getting closer to his chance at the welterweight belt (under 93kg) and has a record of 10 positive results and two negative results.

The fight

Machida started with a lot of study and looked for a sense of distance, while Edwards tried to kick low and counterattack with jabs and straight shots. In one of the moments, the Englishman had a good sequence and shortened to try the takedown.

In the clinch, Fabian opened up space and crossed the left, which made Lyoto 'double'. He went up, made the Brazilian fall and still had time to land two punches on the ground.

After being defeated in a fight against Liz Carmouche, Kana Watanabe bet on her judo skills to submit Denise Kielholtz with a triangle choke in the second round. The Japanese is now getting closer to a chance at the flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg.).

Professional since 2017, Watanabe has a record of 11 triumphs, one setback and one draw. Kielholtz suffers his fourth negative result in his career, while he also has six other positive results.

Undefeated in his career, Luke Trainer entered the circular cage with vast favoritism over Simon Biyong. Fighting at home, the Englishman felt the pressure, suffered on his feet and had some good moments on the ground, but ended up defeated for the first time on the judges' scorecards. The duel was valid in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg) at the opening of the main card.

Biyong is recovering from his defeat over Christian Edwards, in June 2021. The Cameroonian has eight victories and two setbacks. Trainer, who is an English sensation, suffers his first career defeat, while also having five other positive results.
