Brazilian highlighted to the 'boss' that he still felt like a lightweight champion after yet another submission in Ultimate

Charles of the Bronx finished Justin gaethje and went to talk to Dana White, who was following the UFC 274 from last Saturday (7) next to the corners. When asked about the matter, Do Bronx reveals that the main motivation was to highlight that, despite having lost the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg) for not making weight, he still considers himself champion of the organization.

“Because I come here (United States) a lot, I understand a lot of what people say, but I can't say it. And I told him: 'The champion still has a name. It's Charles Oliveira'. Some things we understand (in English) and others we don't. But it's more about emotion and heat. I just wanted to say that nothing had changed and I was still champion”, recalled Charles.

Removing the title was not easy for Do Bronx. The Brazilian says he felt wronged, in addition to highlighting that he did nothing wrong in the UFC's decision to strip him of the title.

“When I lost the belt I just wanted to cry. It's been 11 years of the dream. Not just Charles, but thousands of people. It is complicated. And if you don't make weight, that's one thing. Knowing that you did everything right, that you're right and having your belt taken away for something that isn't yours, is sad. The (Athletic) Commission did not arrive and said that the scale was wrong, as other fighters had warned”, he concluded.
