Jones x Gustafsson
Since Chris Weidman derrotou Anderson Silva, in July, the North American Jon Jones He became considered the 'man to beat in the UFC'. Leader of the organization's weight-for-pound rankings and champion since March 2011, the North American will put the light heavyweight title on the line for the sixth time, a record within the event.

Despite facing a taller opponent for the first time – Gustafsson is 1,96 tall and Jones is 1,93 – the champion does not believe this will be a problem for his tactics in the octagon. “This sport is a game of intelligence and I am very prepared to be here. It’s the third time I’ve fought in Canada and I’m ready for the fight”, said the champion after the weigh-in.
Barão x Wineland
The second most important fight of the show brings the second defense of the interim belt of the potiguar Renan Barao. The Brazilian, who won the title by defeating Urijah faber last year, is on a spectacular run of 20 consecutive victories and hopes to extend that run against Eddie Wineland.
The clash against the North American should be the last valid for the interim title. With the linear champion, Dominick Cruz, away since October 2011 because of knee injuries, Dana White, president of the franchise, set a deadline of early 2014 for his return. Otherwise, the winner of Barão x Wineland will be considered the sole champion of the bantamweight division.
More Brazilians
Besides Renan Barao, the UFC 165 fight program features three more Brazilians in action. Wilson reis will make his octagon debut against Ivan Menjivar, in the bantamweight division. Among the lightweights, Renee Forte seeks her second consecutive victory against John makdessi. In the welterweight division, Michel Trator measures his strength against Jesse Ronson.
