Charles do Bronx loses his position as champion, but surpasses Ngannou and joins the UFC's top 3 weight-for-pound rankings

Even though he lost the belt to the scales, the Brazilian gained a position in the rankings and got closer to the organization's 'podium'

Charles of the Bronx He is the fourth best fighter in the UFC. Or at least that's what the organization's ranking says. In the weekly update, held this Tuesday morning (10), the Brazilian left his position as lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg), but rose one position in the organization's weight-for-weight ranking, surpassing Francis Ngannou and taking fourth place.

The Ultimate weight-for-pound ranking is led by Kamaru Usman, welterweight champion (up to 77 kg) and, completing the podium, Alexander Volkanovsky, featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) and Israel adesanya, middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg).

The lightweight rankings dawned without a champion, as Charles of the Bronx lost the belt to the scales in a controversial weigh-in before the UFC 274. The Brazilian now occupies first place in the category. Victim of the former champion in the main fight of the event held last Saturday (7), Justin gaethje lost two positions and went to third, behind Dustin poirier. Michael chandler maintained fifth position, while Tony Ferguson fell three places and moved to tenth after suffering a brutal knockout against the former Bellator champion.

In the strawweight division (up to 52,1 kg), Carla esparza assumed the position of champion by overcoming Rose namajunas, which now appears in first position in the ranking. The former champion also lost one position in the women's weight-for-weight ranking, being overtaken by the bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) Julianna Pena. Esparza, in turn, gained two positions and is now in sixth place, leaving the former champions behind Holly holm e Jessica Stacker.

In the men's flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg), Brandon royval surpassed Alex Perez and reached the top 5 after finishing Matt schnell, which remained in ninth place.

In women's flyweight, Tracy Cortez entered the ranking, in 15th place, after surpassing the Brazilian Melissa Gatto.
