Publicly criticized by Anderson Silva, Dana White responds and says he is surprised by the legend's statement

UFC president shows discomfort with ex-champion's speech, who criticized the company's treatment of sports icons

Right of reply. Days after the Anderson Silva's blunt criticism regarding the treatment of Ultimate with icons of the organization, Dana White decided to counter the Brazilian legend. In a press conference after UFC 274, the company's 'boss' expressed discomfort with the former champion's statement and questioned the athlete's speech.

"Than Anderson Silva is talking? When you heard me speak negatively about him, except for the fight in Abu Dhabi, (against Demian Maia, in 2010)? We let the guy fulfill his contract, he lost seven of his eight, or eight of his last nine fights (in the UFC)”, retorted White, showing indignation.

Present in Silva's moments of glory in his career in Ultimate, Dana went further. The president stated that he has never hidden his admiration for the Brazilian's undisputed talent, who is considered one of the best MMA representatives of all time.

“I don't know where that came from. He made it sound like I didn't want him to make money. I said it myself: 'Jake Paul wants to fight someone. Face Anderson Silva, he is available,” said Dana.

In recent months, White has also made a point of praising 'Spider' in boxing. After the Brazilian legend was run over in front of Tito Ortiz, in September 2021, the president of Ultimate even suggested that the São Paulo native would be the best martial artist of all time.
