Luke Rockhold tears knee ligament and is out of UFC 166

After debuting with a defeat to Vitor belfort in May, Rockhold would face Tim Boetsch at UFC 166, in October, but ended up tearing the medial collateral ligament in his knee and was cut from the event. The fighter himself broke the news through his Twitter.

“I’m sorry, I tore my medial collateral ligament during a fitness session. sparring last Friday, six weeks after the fight. If there was any chance I could fight, I would. I was really waiting for this fight”, wrote the fighter, who has a record of ten wins and just two losses, on the microblogging network. For Rockhold's place in the event, the Ultimate organization announced CB Dollaway, who will now face Tim Boetsch on fight night.

UFC 166 takes place on October 19th, at the “Toyota Center”, in Houston (USA). The main fight of the night marks the final part of the trilogy of clashes between the Brazilian Junior “Cigano” dos Santos and the American Cain Velazquez, again for the heavyweight title. In the co-main event of the night, the “gordinho” Roy Nelson face the undefeated Daniel Cormier.
