“I was really upset and I just told him, 'Listen. We have been working towards this for 10 weeks. Stop risking this because you want to show everyone that you're the man, understand? You're the man, but keep it simple. Continue your jab. Keep up what we work for (…) people love a winner. So just win the f***ing fight,” said Michael, in an interview with 'The MMA Hour'.

The request that Chimaev be more restrained in his attempts would not be so easy to follow. After all, in his four appearances at the beginning of his Ultimate career, the Swede defeated three opponents in the first round. Therefore, Michael understands that his pupil came in with an offensive impetus to achieve the same feat, but admits that he would like a 'methodical game' to get past Durinho.

“He did absolutely everything we didn’t work on and he just wanted to show people he was there. But there's a reason these guys are there. They are tough. I have a lot of respect for them. And that comes with experience, because if you understand this, you have experience to deal with the situation and, then, you can finish them off in one or two rounds. But you need that patience and that patience comes with experience”, warned the coach.
