Punished in five rounds by Cris Cyborg at Bellator 279, challenger receives praise from the Brazilian legend

Last victim of Chris Cyborg at Bellator, Arlene Blencowe may not have shocked the world, but she drew praise from the MMA legend. After being punished for five rounds in a fight for the featherweight title (up to 65,7 kg), last Saturday (23), the Australian had her merits recognized by the champion. On social media, the Brazilian did not hide her admiration for her rival.

“Thank you, Arlene Blencowe, for sharing the Bellator cage with me. You have earned my respect. Thank you for making me a better fighter,” wrote Cyborg.

Last weekend, Cris made her debut in the 2022 season. The duel against the Australian marked a rematch between the athletes. In the first meeting, the Brazilian passed her opponent without any major difficulties, finishing in the second round.

The new clash took place differently. Cyborg once again proved his superiority, but was unable to triumph in the fast lane. Victim of the hard and precise attacks from Curitiba, Blencowe was surprised by her resistance.

With the victory, Cris expanded his legacy in Bellator. Now, the Brazilian has accumulated four belt defenses and remains undefeated in the company.
