The defeat for Anthony Pettis, in the main fight of UFC 164, won the lightweight belt for Ben henderson. However, the North American was close to having an even bigger loss. The armbar that gave Pettis the victory injured Bendo's elbow, but to the fighter's relief the problem was not serious.
“My elbow won’t be a big concern. Dr. Shafer said I can return to training immediately, but start slowly for a few weeks by doing physical therapy. Of course I'm looking forward to getting back to training hard again, but I'm going to be smart and patient about it.” Ben henderson in an official note released to the press.
The fighter also used the statement to thank the support he received from his fans after the setback. “I want to thank my fans for their fantastic support, not just last week, but throughout my career. I can be better. I will be better,” he added.
