It was painful, but it was worth it. Making his debut in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg.) towards his second PFL championship, which took place this Wednesday (20), Raush Manfio encountered difficulties, but managed to knock out Don Madge in the third round. The Brazilian obliterated the South African with a straight shot and scored four points in the second most important fight of the night.

Manfio now extends his streak of five straight victories. The 'War Horse' has 16 positive results and three negative results in his journey in MMA, which began in 2011.

Madge, on the other hand, had her streak of seven victories broken and suffered her fourth defeat in her career. The South African also has ten wins and one draw.

The fight

The difference in wingspan was clear from the opening moments, with Raush needing to shorten the distance to enter the range of action. Madge, in turn, worked on low and waist-level kicks to open up gaps in the game. However, Manfio feinted, made the save and then counterattacked. The Brazilian still hit the South African in the final stretch of the round.

In a plastic start, the two fighters exchanged good blows on their feet for a good part of the round. Manfio took advantage of Madge's low kicks to combine crosses and straight shots, rejecting his opponent's comfortable footwork. Don, however, also reacted and grew in the middle of the round, with high kicks.

The third and decisive round was marked by low kicks from Don Madge, which marked Manfio's left leg. Still, the current lightweight champion remained aggressive and trusted in his hands to shake the South African, until he landed an overhand right that made his opponent fall, knocked out.
