At the opening of the main card of PFL 2022 #1, event held this Wednesday (20), Natan schulte He didn't have an easy time at the beginning of his career in the lightweight tournament (up to 70,3kg). Two-time champion in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, the Santa Catarina native put up a tough fight, but was defeated by Olivier Aubin-Mercier in a split decision by the judges.

As a result, Natan ends the first round without scoring and needs good results to advance to the stage. In his career, there are now 21 triumphs, five setbacks and one draw.
Olivier, in turn, has three points in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg). The Canadian has a record of 13 positive results and five negative results in his career.
The fight
The first initiative in the fight was taken by Natan, who kicked Aubin-Mercier in the waist. The Brazilian continued marching forward, always within his opponent's range of action. Schulte was counterpunched frequently, but didn't seem to feel the blows, until a kick to the rib made him double over and feel it. He then attempted, unsuccessfully, a takedown and was alert to the Canadian's new attacks on the waistline. In the final stretch, the fight continued with frank exchanges between the athletes, with balance and good moments for both sides.
Back in the second round, Natan continued his strategy and had his guard leaked by Olivier's counterattacks. Concentrated, the Brazilian threw the blows and waited for reactions from his opponent in the exchange before acting again. He managed to enter with good combinations of straights and crosses. Aubin-Mercier, on the other hand, continued to kick from the waistline, exactly where he made Schulte feel it.
At a disadvantage in the fight, Schulte returned to the third round willing to reverse the situation to emerge victorious. The Brazilian had good moments and even rocked Aubin-Mercier with knees and combinations at close range, but he got tired in the last minutes and couldn't get a clean blow to knock him out.
