Despite the defeat in the unanimous decision of the judges, the duel against Khamzat Shimaev may have been a kind of watershed for the future of Gilbert Durinho in the UFC. This Saturday (16), during the UFC Las Vegas 51, the Brazilian welterweight (up to 77 kg) revealed that he is starting to “reap the fruits” of the war waged against the new “phenomenon” of the division.

In an interview with the “Combate” channel, Gilbert Durinho stated that he recently met with Dana White, president of the UFC, to discuss a new contract with the organization.

“It was a great meeting. I sat with him (Dana White). The guys enjoyed the fight and I think a new contract is coming. They said there would be a big fight next time. They really liked it. Even though I'm competitive, I know I lost, but it could have gone either way. I’m starting to reap the rewards from this”, said Durinho.

Fourth place in the welterweight rankings, Gilbert Durinho expressed his desire to participate in another “big fight” in the division. For this, the Brazilian sees names with great prestige in the organization as ideal opponents.

PUBLICITY:

“The guys who have the most names in the category (are) the brothers Nate and Nick Diaz, Masvidal or Chimaev again. I'm 'fishing' for a rematch. If Colby (Covington) doesn't want it, I'll get in that fight. I hope these are the names and I hope one of them comes”, said the Brazilian.
