Caio Borralho defended himself from the controversy over the 'anti-climax' in his debut victory over Gadzhi Omargadzhiev in the UFC Las Vegas 51. In a post-event press conference, the Brazilian revealed that the illegal knee on the Russian occurred due to a moment of inattention during the fight.

“I know the rules. I thought he only had his fingertips (on the knee), because his knee wasn't on the ground. I couldn't see much. It was a bit of a lack of attention, you know? I feel sorry for Gadzhi, his team and committee for doing this. I promise this won’t happen again,” said Borralho.

Furthermore, Caio revealed that he was afraid of being disqualified. However, he knew there was a possibility of winning in the technical decision as he knew he was having an advantage in the judges' scores.

“I was scared of being disqualified for it. So, my coaches told me to be calm, as they thought the referee was evaluating precisely this (technical decision). And I knew that, on the score, I was winning. It didn't go the way I wanted, but like I said. It is what it is,” he concluded.
