After bitter outcome in 'Nemkov x Anderson', Scott Coker confirms rematch and sets date

President of Bellator guarantees that a new meeting between athletes should take place in the second half of 2022; fight is worth a belt and represents the final of the light heavyweight GP

Present in the long-awaited confrontation between Vadim nemkov e Corey anderson, in the final of the light heavyweight Grand Prix (up to 93kg.), Scott Coker understands that a rematch between the athletes is mandatory. After the bitter outcome of the confrontation, which ended due to medical interruption after the champion suffered a deep cut from an accidental headbutt, the Bellator president is already thinking about the reunion. In a press conference after the show this Friday (15), the 'boss' even set a date.

“We will continue with the tournament. I hope in August or September”, said the president.

Without a champion in the championship, Coker explained what happens to the dreamed check of US$1 million (around R$4,7 million), given to the winner. According to the representative, the amount will not be deposited to any of the protagonists, until there is an outcome other than 'no contest'.

“You need to win the tournament to win the money. (…) The two athletes will receive their salaries established in the contract. The million is a bonus, which will be added to the champion's salary. To win the money, you need to win the tournament”, he concluded.

With the anticlimax, the rule ended up being fulfilled in the co-main fight. Unable to continue the fight, Nemkov had his belt retained.
