Fighter Kevin Souza is close to realizing a dream. The Florianópolis-based Bahian will make his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 27, an event that takes place next Wednesday (03), in Belo Horizonte. The opponent will be the compatriot Felipe Sertanejo. Happy with the opportunity, Kevin couldn't hide his excitement for his first fight.
“I was very emotional. I no longer had any expectations that it would be so fast. I thought I would have to defend the belt Jungle Fight at least one time. But it came at the best time. I'm in the best phase of my life, growing as a professional, evolving as an athlete and wanting to go further and further,” he said.
At 28 years old. Kevin Souza has been rumored for the UFC since the end of April. However, the chance came after the American Sam Sicilia left the event. Even with the confirmation of the substitution to the detriment of the opponent's preparation, he is at the peak of his physical and tactical fitness, as he hasn't changed anything from what he was already doing.
“It doesn't make any difference to replace someone, because my training remains the same. Always strong, as I was already working towards the UFC. It doesn't change anything. The only difference is that it is a bigger, far-reaching event, the biggest in the world. In the end, it's an equal fight. Up there I am and him. He closed the gate, me and him”, he said.
