With a full courtroom, Cain Velasquez has an appeal hearing postponed and remains in prison in the United States

Former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg), Cain Velazquez had his appeal hearing postponed until May 6th following a request from his lawyer, Mark Geragos, last Tuesday (12). The fighter has been in prison since February 2022, on charges of attempted murder.

Velaquez had a 'moment' with the courtroom, which was packed. The heavyweight legend turned to those present and made a heart symbol with his hands for those who supported him during the hearing. According to information from theMMA fighting', the former UFC champion, Daniel Cormier, and the coach of American kickboxing Academy (AKA), Javier Mendez, would also be at the scene.

Before the hearing, Cain spoke for the first time since his arrest. On his social networks, he broke his silence, thanked his fans for their support and appealed to the 'real victims' of the case to speak publicly about what happened.

The former champion was arrested on February 28, 2022, for attempted murder. The heavyweight legend shot a man who had allegedly molested a member of his family, who was a minor. Cain fired shots at the vehicle and hit the defendant's stepfather in the arm.

The American was later accused of attempted murder and a series of other charges, which could range from 20 years to life in prison. He was even denied a bail hearing after the judge in the case, Shelyna Brown, judged the fighter's actions as 'reckless' and that, if he were released, he could put other lives at risk.
