Before the confrontation against Khamzat Shimaev, Gilbert Durinho was discredited by a large part of the press and MMA fans. However, after showing its value in the UFC 273, there were people apologizing to the Brazilian fighter. Among those 'regretful' is the former Ultimate athlete Brendan Schaub.

The duel between Durinho and Chimaev was chosen as the 'Fight of the Night' of the UFC 273. The two athletes fought a real 'war' for 15 minutes and the Swedish prospect emerged victorious in the judges' decision. With the triumph, Khamzat took the 'elevator' in the welterweight classification (under 77,1kg) and is now third in the rankings.
