Intimidating for anyone who crosses his path in the Octagon, the Swede Khamzat Shimaev revealed his 'human side' after the UFC 273. In the press conference after the show last Saturday (09), the welterweight prospect (up to 77,1kg) revealed that he met with the family of Gilbert Durinho behind the scenes of the show and that this brought out his sentimental side, hindering his performance.

“I told all the guys in the UFC, they think I don’t respect the guys. This is the game. I tried to play with his mind, make him make some mistakes. I love this sh*t. I've been watching all the UFC shit all the time. I try to learn something from everyone and I respect all my opponents. Everyone does it for their family. In fact, it was a little difficult to fight him, because I saw his children, they came to me, 'You're going to fight my father'. And I said, 'S***, I don't need that.' I don't want to fight with any parents. I need a killer like me who will kill someone and not care about that sh*t. I went to him, said I respect him and apologized for the punches. We do it for our family and to have fun too,” Chimaev said.

Undefeated in professional MMA with 11 consecutive victories, the division's prospect had his biggest test of fire in the last UFC 273. In front of the former challenger Gilbert Durinho, the Swede went into deep water but survived and won by unanimous decision from the judges.
