After unifying the bantamweight belts (up to 61,2 kg) against Petr yan in the co-main event of UFC 273, aljamain sterling must have TJ Dillashaw as the next challenger. Still in the octagon, after his victory last Saturday (9), the current belt holder challenged the former champion of the category and, according to Dana White, the fight should happen.

At the press conference after the event, the president of Ultimate wasn't very interested in granting an immediate rematch to Petr yan, stated that the Russian will probably deserve another chance in the future and indicated that TJ Dillashaw should really be next in line.
“That fight (Yan vs Sterling) will always be there. Petr yan He's one of the best in the division. We’ll probably do the fight with TJ (Dillashaw),” said Dana White.
One of the biggest names in bantamweight history, TJ Dillashaw he was champion of the category between 2014 and 2015 and, later, between 2017 and 2018, with three belt defenses. After serving a two-year suspension for doping, the former champion returned to the octagon in July 2021, defeating Cory Sandhagen.
