Much of the criticism of Sterling came after his first duel with Yan, in March 2021. At the time, the Russian was disqualified after inflicting an illegal knee on Aljo. The North American claimed he was unable to continue in the fight and was declared the winner and, consequently, new bantamweight champion. Many fans accuse Aljamain of lying about the severity of the injury at the time, so he can not return to the fight.

With the victory on Saturday night (09), the 'Funk Master' now has a recent record of seven consecutive victories. His last setback was the knockout against the Brazilian Marlon moraes, in December 2017. Professional since 2011, Aljo now has a record of 21 triumphs and three setbacks.
