With 14 victories in the UFC, Michael Bisping He is the most successful fighter in the organization's history who has never challenged for a belt. Despite this, the Englishman considers himself capable of having won Anderson Silva, who held the middleweight belt for almost seven years. And what's more: I would have done it even easier than Chris Weidman, who knocked out the Brazilian at UFC 162, in July.
In an interview with the North American website MMAWeekly, Bisping congratulated Weidman on the achievement, recognized him as one of the strengths of the category, but said he would do better if he were in the current champion's place.
“Obviously it has always been my dream to fight with Anderson Silva and be the guy to take the title from him, of course”, said the Englishman. “Yes, I was a little disappointed and I'm not belittling your victory, but we all know that Anderson Silva was acting like an idiot and got knocked out. It would have been cool to have been the guy to do that, so congratulations to Chris, he's the new champion and certainly a formidable force at middleweight, but yeah, it stinks a little. I could have done that. I could have done it even easier.”
Bisping has a complicated commitment ahead of him upon returning to the country that welcomed him as a child. He faces American Mark Muñoz in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 30, in Manchester, England, in October.
