Executioner of Brazilians in the organization's welterweight division (up to 77kg), the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov questioned the qualities of Dana White's pupil. In an interview with 'Smesh Bros.', the fighter avoided challenging the Swede, but explained his position.

“I'm not surprised (by Chimaev's performances). There is nothing extraordinary about what he does. Certainly, he has good wrestling and does a good job. He has a lot of confidence, unlike his opponents. If we fight, it should be a different scenario, a different confrontation,” Rakhmonov said.
Executioner of names like Alex Cowboy (2020) and Michel Trator (2021) at welterweight, Shavkat understands that this is not the time to challenge Khamzat. The athlete, then, adopts caution when dealing with a possible duel.
“I fight whoever asks me to. If the positions in the rankings match and the UFC thinks it makes sense, I will face him without hesitation. It's not time to challenge him yet, because he's an athlete on the rise and should fight for the belt soon. Once I get to him, we will fight”, he concluded.
A professional in MMA since 2014, Rakhmonov is undefeated in his career in the sport. Currently, the 27-year-old fighter has 15 consecutive victories.
Star in UFC 273, Chimaev is heading towards his 11th engagement in mixed martial arts. On April 9, the Swede faces the long-awaited clash against Gilbert Durinho. A positive result could extend Dana White's pupil's unbeaten record in the sport and qualify him for a fight for the welterweight belt.
