The next UFC event in Las Vegas, on April 16, was missing weight. After Uriah Hall leaving the card for reasons still unknown, Ultimate was unsuccessful in finding a replacement and, as a result, André Sergipano is no longer scheduled to fight at the event. The information is from the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Quoted to replace Hall and face the Brazilian, Dricus Du Plessis, who also found himself without an opponent for the UFC 273 after the withdrawal of Kelvin Gastelum, revealed, during his participation in “MMA Hour”, that he received an offer to face Sergipano. The South African, however, admitted that he refused, claiming that he was already cutting weight for this Saturday's event (9).

Born in Montes Claros, in Minas Gerais, André Sergipano has had a meteoric start to his career in the UFC. Hired through the third season of the “Contender Series”, the Brazilian won the four fights he had in Ultimate, the last three of which were submissions via armbars in the first round. In one of them, Sergipano even broke the legend's arm Ronaldo Jacare.

The good start to his UFC career led André Sergipano to be considered a potential candidate to compete for the middleweight title (up to 83,9 kg) soon. The Brazilian currently occupies the thirteenth position in the ranking and would face Uriah Hall, ninth place.
