“I received many calls from them (parents) shouting at me: 'I can't believe you called Brazilians filthy animals. I didn't raise you like this. I should wash your mouth out with soap.' And I was like, 'Mom, they were acting like filthy animals, what did you want me to do?'” Covington revealed.

The words spoken by the athlete took place in October 2017, when he fought in São Paulo, against Demian Maia. The North American managed to win the unanimous decision of the judges and made a point of offending the public present at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium. On that occasion, he had to leave the arena escorted by security guards and was 'rained with objects' by the fans.

Since then, Colby covington adopted the provocative style and achieved two welterweight title fights (up to 77kg), but stopped at Kamaru Usman on both occasions. In his career, there are 16 positive results and three negative results.
