Deiveson Figueiredo confirms injury and sets deadline to defend flyweight belt

UFC champion reveals injury to his right hand and guarantees that he will only train hard after complete recovery

Back on the UFC flyweight (up to 56,7kg) throne, Deiveson Figueiredo is in no rush for his first title defense of his new reign. Even after challenging Kai Kara France for a confrontation, the Brazilian stated that he does not intend to return to action before the second half of the season. In an exclusive interview with SUPER LTUAS, the 'God of War' revealed that he needs to treat an injury to his right hand.

“I almost broke my finger before the fight (against Brandon Moreno, in January). The finger is completely crooked. I'm getting better. It's a cartilage injury. This isn’t good at the snap of a finger, it takes time”, stated Figueiredo.

After successfully debuting in the 2022 season at UFC 270, Deiveson has no plans to return to the octagon before the second half of the year. The athlete then set a deadline to defend his title.

“October, November, precisely because of the injury. My finger is broken. Until then, I'll have both good hands to train. I want to be 100% ready to go back to training, lose weight and go about four months without suffering or training to make weight”, he concluded.
