Former UFC star, Chael Sonnen He breathes a sigh of relief, but not that much. Protagonist of a riot in a hotel in Las Vegas, in December 2021, the MMA veteran got rid of five charges of assault after a hearing held this Wednesday (30). In one of the processes, the former rival of Anderson Silva was accused of felonious assault by strangulation. The aggravating factor, however, was one of the actions withdrawn. The other four situations involved alleged 'less serious' incidents.
Member of the Las Vegas Police Force, Larry Hadfield, at the time, reported to 'MMA Fighting' what had happened on the premises of the Four Seasons Hotel after the alleged attacks.
“An indictment was issued for each victim of the incident. The accused was then escorted out of the property. Because the offenses were committed in the absence of law enforcement, no arrests were made,” Hadfield said.
Although he is 'free' from five lawsuits, Chael still cannot consider himself calm. Initially, the former fighter would have to face 11 charges, leaving six legal procedures to be resolved.
