Last Saturday, two important prospects in the featherweight division won at UFC Fight Night 26. Now the path for them to meet in the Octagon is open. O Irish coach Conor McGregor launched the challenge and the Brazilian Diego Brandao accepted immediately.
“I've always liked challenges and I think a fight against McGregor would be a good challenge for me,” Brandão told the North American website MMAFighting.com. The Ceará native even indicated a date. “If he wants to fight me, I want to fight him too. Hey, McGregor, let's make this happen. It would be perfect for UFC 168 in Las Vegas. I want to put on a great show.”
The UFC has so far given no sign of making the fight official, but Diego thinks that McGregor could represent another step towards a title fight. “I'm in the UFC to fight the best. Everyone knows that my dream is to become UFC champion. I already won an edition of The Ultimate Fighter, now I want to go after the belt.”
