Vitor belfort He may not be the only one to step into the octagon in Goiânia under testosterone replacement treatment, known by the acronym TRT. The veteran Dan Henderson, who also suffers from hypogonadism and needs treatment, will have the right to request authorization for TRT.
The information was given by Marcio Tannure, medical director of the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA). He told the North American website MMA Fighting that Henderson will have to send all the necessary documentation to prove the illness and the need for treatment, so that an opinion can be issued whether or not to release the TRT.
“I have not been officially informed about this fight, but if Henderson wants to request approval for TRT in Brazil, he will have to send us all the exams so we can analyze,” said Dr. Tannure. “I know that it is authorized for use in the United States, but this is a different commission, so we need to see all the tests”, he added.
Belfort and Hendo will be tested once a month to ensure their testosterone levels are normal. “With Vitor, we did blood tests every month to make sure his levels were ok. So we tested it before and after fights (against Michael Bisping e Luke Rockhold)”, said the doctor. “(Henderson) will be tested at least three times before the fight and then we will test him after the fight,” concluded Tannure.
