Fake news
Part of a historic rivalry in the under-56,7kg division, Deiveson is secure in his position of not facing the Mexican again. Irreducible, the Brazilian reinforced his hurt with his latest victim, pointing to racism as the main factor.
“It’s fake news (about a negotiation for a quadrilogy). I don't know anything, I just saw the press putting my fight already scheduled. I'm still injured. I got out of a fight two months ago. I haven't even liked the right belt yet. I almost broke my finger before the fight. (…) I'm getting better. It’s a cartilage injury, and it’s not ready with the snap of a finger,” he said.
Brandon, no way
After resuming the flyweight belt at the start of the 2022 season, Figueiredo hinted that he would be willing to face Moreno for the fourth time. The intention, however, was short-lived. By citing a situation of racism as the main factor for the denial, the man from Pará reinforces the statement.
“He (Moreno), his team, his followers, everyone was racist towards me. They still keep calling me a monkey on social media. I wanted to sue him, but I'm a guy who doesn't like getting involved with justice. I'm going to bring this up, take it to the UFC. I don't know if he'll ever apologize to me. It’s a fight that doesn’t interest me”, he said.
Brandon leaves, Kara-France enters
With the Mexican out of the plans, Deiveson is sure that his fans won't lose the quality of the fight if Ultimate makes its 'dream challenger' official. After following the victory of Kai Kara France against Askar askarov No. ufc columbus, the 'God of War' seems more excited than ever to measure forces against the New Zealander.
“It will certainly catch fire. This fight has to happen. My fans, the people who follow my work, Brazil, out there, I see a lot of people commenting that they want to see this fight. I hope Dana (White) sees this as a business and it's a fight that will bring a lot of money to me too. Kai Kara France He’s a guy who knows how to win fights and, if we meet backstage, we’ll exchange blows before the fight”, he guaranteed.
Return to the octagon forecast
Recovering from an injury to the finger on his left hand, Figueiredo does not want to rush his return to the octagon. The champion then suggests when he will return to action.
“By October and November, precisely because of the injury. My finger is broken. Until then, I'll have a good hand to train. I'm still feeling the fight, it's inflamed. I want to be 100% ready to go back to training and spend four months training without suffering to cut weight”, he concluded.
Athlete's history
At 34 years old, Figueiredo will reach the milestone of 25 fights as a professional in MMA. Today, the UFC champion has 21 wins, two losses and one draw.
