Cory Sandhagen comes from a defeat against Petr Uan, in October 2021, in his last appearance. Still, the North American seems not to have been demotivated and is now willing to face two MMA legends. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', he expressed a desire to measure forces against José Aldo e Dominick Cruz.

“I know that I am very capable of beating anyone in the category. (Dominick) Cruz and (José) Aldo are seasoned veterans in a sport that matters. I would like to test myself against them and I have a lot of respect for what they do for MMA. I don't think they are far from their peak. They've been around for a long time. I would like to test myself against someone who is very experienced,” said Cruz.

Sandhagen occupies fourth place in the bantamweight division and, despite coming from two consecutive defeats, continues to be seen as a difficult opponent. He challenged the 'People's Champion', who is close to a title fight and third in the rankings. Cruz, former champion of the division, has two consecutive victories, but occupies seventh place.

Number three in the bantamweight rankings, Sandhagen is going through a difficult phase in his career. Before the defeat to Petr yan in the dispute for the interim belt, the American was defeated by the former champion TJ Dillashaw in the last one in July 2021. The fighter has a record of 14 triumphs and four setbacks in professional MMA.
