MMA professional for over 25 years
Born in Ukraine, but naturalized Russian, alexey oleynik made his professional MMA debut in November 1996, more than 25 years ago. On that occasion, the fighter was in action three times in the same night and won the Minamoto Cup title.
For comparison purposes, the North American Kay hansen is the youngest athlete selected for the UFC 273, just 22 years old. This means that, while Oleynik debuted in professional MMA by having three fights on the same night, Hansen hadn't even thought about being born yet. When the flyweight athlete (up to 56,7 kg) came into the world in August 1999, the “Boa Constrictor” already had a record of seven wins and one loss in professional MMA. When Kay hansen debuted professionally in December 2017, the Russian had already seen action 67 times in his career, with 55 wins, 11 losses and one fight without result.

Black belt in jiu-jitsu and master of combat sambo, a sport in which he was once world champion, alexey oleynik He specializes in submissions. Of the 59 victories achieved in his career, 46 were obtained this way.
The 46 submissions in the “Boa Constrictor’s” career were obtained with various moves, such as rear naked chokes, armbars, guillotines and leg locks. The main highlight in the Russian's arsenal, however, is the Ezequiel choke, a rare submission in MMA, but which has already been applied by Oleynik on 12 occasions. In 2017, the veteran became the only fighter to finish a fight with movement in the UFC Octagon and he even repeated the feat in 2018.
Looking for 60th career victory

This Saturday at UFC 273, alexey oleynik search against Jared Vanderaa, the much-desired 60th victory in professional MMA. This is the third time that the Russian has had such an opportunity, as he has come from three consecutive defeats in Ultimate.
The last victory of alexey oleynik, number 59, was against the former champion Fabricio Werdum, UFC 249, in May 2020.
