New Zealander gets the worst of a frank striking match and has a failed debut in the first round of the co-main fight

He paid the price. In his debut at featherweight (up to 65,7kg) in Ultimate, Dan Hooker accepted the frank exchange and ended up getting the worst of it. UFC London, held this Saturday (19). Responsible for welcoming the New Zealander to the division, arnold allen he took no notice of his opponent and carried out a true massacre. With sharp hands, the ‘home athlete’ left the octagon with a knockout in the first round.

With the defeat, Hooker saw his situation become more complicated within the company. A former lightweight standout (up to 70,3kg), the New Zealander has now had four stumbles in his last five fights.

Owner of an irreparable performance over the weekend, Allen has plenty of reasons to celebrate. In addition to defending seventh position in the division led by Alexander Volkanovsky, the Englishman extended his undefeated streak to 11 consecutive victories, eight of which were in Ultimate.

After the official announcement, the athlete had a next opponent for the sequence on the tip of his tongue. In front of his fans, the fighter challenged Calvin kattar, number five in the group.

The fight

The confrontation began with Hooker trying to close the distance with a combination of jab and kick to the belt. The New Zealander continued to be more aggressive and sought to surround his rival close to the bars. Allen responded with a tough series of crosses. The confrontation became frank, with the athletes looking for the knockout. Arnold had the upper hand and tried to take advantage of his opponent's situation, who was swinging in the Octagon. Dan was trying to recover and Allen was looking for the best moment to attack. With a straight right, Arnold rocked Hooker again. The 'home athlete' continued to punish and forced the referee to interrupt.
