After provocation José Aldo, it didn't take long for Acelino 'Popó' Freitas to respond, with a video, to the recent comments. Called 'old, retired and pot-bellied', the four-time world champion went on his social media and published one of his training sessions, with a message about respect.

“Aldo, boxing is fighting, not fighting. Boxing is discipline, respect. It's sport. I challenged you post-Whind, making deferences like the great champion you are and one of the best boxers in MMA. His disrespect is unacceptable. It may take a while, but we will still meet in the ring. #BOXEminhaVIDA”, wrote Popó.
The controversy began after the fight against Whindersson Nunes, at the end of January, when Popó mentioned that he would like new challenges in boxing. The boxer even stated that a confrontation against José Aldo It would be a good option for its sequence, especially since Manauara is another big name in the sport.
The response, however, was not well received by the four-time world champion. In an interview with the program 'The Noite', on 'SBT, the 'Campeão do Povo' highlighted that he has a new contract in the UFC and, therefore, the fight would not have a chance of happening. He even shot Acelino for failing to knock out comedian Whidersson Nunes.
Popó is preparing for a new experience in the 'noble art' with other major superfights, while Aldo still has no confirmed fight on the way to a possible new title opportunity in the bantamweight division (under 61,2kg) of Ultimate.
