Hired by Ultimate with the reputation of having already run over Israel adesanya in the days of kickboxing, Alex Poatán is confident that he can repeat the feat within Ultimate. Opponent of Bruno Blindado No. UFC Las Vegas 50, the former Glory double champion decided to open up about what he thinks about the Nigerian. Without 'minding words', the Brazilian assured that the middleweight star (up to 83,9kg) fears his presence in the organization.

“It’s harder for me to get to him than to beat him. He knows that. He knows I can beat him. He faced me twice and won't admit how complicated an opponent I am. He's not eager to fight me. Adesanya wants me to lose tomorrow so he can say, 'Is this the guy you want to face me? Are you crazy? Go back to the end of the line.'. He runs away from me”, said Alex, in an interview with podcast 'Frank Exchange'.
With the intention of facing the middleweight star, who has reigned supreme in the Ultimate division since 2019, Poatan went further. The fighter questioned Israel's supposed interest in a trilogy and assured that his former rival would be scared.
“Someone with ambition for a fight would say, 'I want this guy. I want to prove that I'm better than him.' Adesanya is misleading his fans. People should pressure him. The least he could say is: 'f**k you. I'm going to show my fans that I'm the best and that's why they follow me.' It's not what you've been doing. Adesanya is scared,” he signed off.
This weekend, Poatan returns to the octagon for his second appearance with the Ultimate gloves. Compatriot's rival Bruno Blindado, the Brazilian had a brilliant performance in his debut, when he surpassed Andreas Michailidis by knockout in the second round.
